VULCAN is an interactive mine planning and mapping system, designed forboth the coal and metals mining industries. The system is well suited foropen pit, strip, and underground mining. The package is entirely menu-driven and makes extensive use of 3-D Graphics UNIX workstations forinterpretation and manipulation of data. The system includes modules fordatabase management, drill hole graphics, spatial design and digitizing,surface mapping and modeling, shape and ore body modeling, reserves andscheduling. VULCAN is a truly interactive system, and as such makes useof a flexible database and high quality 2-D and 3-D graphics.
